I thought it might be a good idea to elaborate on the name change. For faithful Beautiful Cakes and Bridals customers, you might be wondering, "What gives?".
Last Thursday I attended a Sip and Shop event at Real Estate Row and I ran into a good friend of mine. We haven't seen one another in a while and she asked me what I was doing these days. We are also friends on Facebook so she sees my posts, pictures and updates like everyone else. The way she asked the question made me wonder if I was sending mixed or unclear messages on social media regarding my businesses.
I have been baking and decorating for many years (twenty-seven to be exact!). I love creating things that can be eaten. Win-win. I also LOVE makeup and the creativity that goes into creating a look for work, for a wedding, for a theatrical performance, or just because. I mean, I REALLY love makeup. I'm not as good at it as I am decorating cakes, but I can definitely say I'm passionate about it.
In 2000 I joined a direct-sales makeup company and had good success with it and thoroughly enjoyed the product and the experience. I eventually stopped actively selling but continued to use the products. As I have "matured", I have become more focused on leading a healthier life so when a friend of mine invited me to participate in an online Younique party, I agreed. It was makeup and I could attend the party virtually from the comfort of my own home so it was easy to say yes. I participated in the party with the initial intention to help my friend and before the party had ended, I had signed up to become a Presenter. That was in 2014. I really liked that parties were held online and the products are naturally based.
Fast-forward to last Thursday. As soon as I got home, I got to work on a new concept for Beautiful Cakes and Bridals. I've loved the name, which is very clear and obvious, but it is a bit long. I sat down and tried to come up with a name that would combine sugar art and makeup art and Buttercream Blush was born. I might be committing marketing suicide but I love the name and felt it was time for a business "makeover" if you will. Customers really like my buttercream so it seemed important to include in the name. And most people realize that 'buttercream' relates to 'cake'. I added 'Blush' to represent the makeup side of the new business and it also represents a variant of my absolute most favorite color - pink (I just sounded like a little kid with that statement - but I am a kid at heart). I'm an absolute pink girl. So there you have it! I'll still be creating delicious cakes and confections for weddings and special occasions but I'll also be teaching and displaying my makeup talents under one business. But don't worry, I won't be doing them at the same time!
Keep life sweet, beautiful and creative.
